learn more about alpaca balaclava

Belacaro’s alpaca balaclavas bring together soft, warm and durable knit headwear made in Québec, Canada. The collection includes alpaca balaclavas designed to protect the head and neck with more coverage than a classic hat, for adults, kids and baby alike, while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.

The fiber

Belacaro works with superfine baby alpaca from the Andes. On some styles, the fiber is blended with fine merino and recycled polyamide to enhance durability, flexibility and shape retention over time. Alpaca is valued for its remarkable natural properties: warmth, breathability and thermoregulation, along with a softness that feels comfortable against the skin. We work with a responsibly accredited yarn supplier, with certifications including Oeko-Tex and Peru Fair Trade.

Made to order in Québec

Each balaclava is made to order in our workshop in Québec, Canada. Every model is carefully developed by Belacaro and never produced in series, which gives each piece a more individual character and a closer attention to construction, finish and durability. Designed to become tomorrow’s vintage, Belacaro knitwear is made to be worn often, kept longer and repaired over time, with lifetime repairs offered for every piece.

Why wear Alpaca headwear balaclavas

For the wearer, this means protection that feels warm, soft and easy to live in. A balaclava offers more complete coverage than a beanie, while remaining breathable and pleasant to wear throughout the day. Selected styles are available in a range of 10 colors.
